Time for a new pair of shoes

This morning I was on the train and I was wearing my moccasins that look like these:

(Big shout out to Minnetonka!)

Now I love these shoes, and I'm cheap. So when and when I ripped the right shoe in the area of the big toe, I just sewed it back together. With black thread rather than leather...shoddily.

Okay? Kind of quick and shoddily. I was on tour when it happened.

A homeless woman gets on the (rather packed) train and sits across from me. She looks me up and down. She begins to mumble to herself proving that she was not only homeless, but crazy. Just in case we had any doubts. She then looks me up and down again and stops to stare at my damaged moccasin. She stares at it for awhile. She then looks up at me,and waves to get my attention.

I have my headphones on at this point but I look at her (homeless people have always had a strange command over me). She then points at my toe, shakes her head and gives me a look and a laugh as if to say, "What are you doing? Girlfriend, you need to get new shoes."

And I suppose when a homeless person calls you out for a shoddily repaired busted moccasin then, yes. It is time for a new pair of shoes.

FIN.
